Under the flat, diffused light of an overcast midday, the frame shows a narrow service alley behind a shophouse in George Town, where damp concrete reflects the muted sky. A vendor’s makeshift workstation is cluttered with daily tools: a chipped ceramic mixing jug sits beside a white cooler jug filled with ice and lemongrass, evidence of recent preparation. Behind these, a wall shelf mounted on peeling lime-green plaster holds a red lacquered wood box, its glossy surface catching the soft ambient glow.
