The dim blue light of early morning fills a narrow kitchen in George Town where a vendor prepares for the day. A chipped blue enamel mixing bowl sits on a wooden counter next to a brass thermometer reflecting the low light. An iron deadbolt secures the heavy wooden door while a nickel latch catches a faint glint from a distant streetlamp. Rolling carts loaded with fruit stand just outside the threshold, waiting to be pushed onto the quiet street. A shoe brush rests near the entrance, unused and still. The quiet routine of a local eatery before the city wakes, with no people visible, only the tools of the trade arranged in their daily positions.
