Early morning light spills across the painted stucco facade of a shophouse in George Town, illuminating a narrow alleyway where daily life is already unfolding. A local vendor adjusts a stack of woven bamboo trays, the intricate texture of the peg basket catching the soft, diffused sun. Beside him, a heavy iron padlock secures the lower shutter of a closed tea shop, its rusted surface against the fresh, bright blue paint above. Steam rises from a street cart in the mid-ground, blurring the sharp lines of the stair rail that leads to the upper residential floors.
