Twilight Station Arch Zakho Concrete Plaza
by River Powers
Deep indigo sky reflects off wet cobblestones in the nearly empty plaza outside a ribbed concrete station entry. Sodium-vapor lamps cast a warm, amber glow that streaks across the damp ground and highlights the rough texture of the arched facade. Raindrops rest on the curved stone surfaces, creating scattered, shimmering highlights against the cool gray tones of the architecture. The Dutch angle tilt emphasizes the towering verticality of the structure, making the archway appear to lean dynamically into the frame. Late spring air hangs heavy, visible in the fine mist of the drizzle that softens the edges of the distant plaza. Puddles at the base of the arch mirror the orange streetlights in distorted, elongated shapes. at the edge is a single rivulet of water sliding down the ribbed concrete column, leaving a dark, glistening trail.
