The board itself is a solid, rectangular block of tinted amber material, yet it is entirely transparent like glass, revealing the wood grain of the table directly through its center. Shadows from the room's corners fall heavily against the walls where a warm lamplight settles, against the harsh overhead light. The carpet edges along the floor appear cool and dim, untouched by the artificial brightness. Shallow depth of field blurs the background chairs while keeping the impossible transparency of the amber block sharp and legible. The object sits motionless, a solid color that lets the scene pass through it.
