Transparent Chair in Winter Library Hall

Pale walls reflect cool morning light into the campus library reading room near Kfar Saba. Rows of wooden tables stretch toward the back, their surfaces scattered with open notebooks and ceramic coffee cups. The air holds suspended dust motes within shafts of indirect illumination. One wooden chair stands empty at the nearest desk, yet its entire structure is made of clear glass, retaining the warm brown tint of the wood it mimics. Through its transparent seat, the legs of the table and the floorboards beneath remain perfectly visible. The solid form holds its shape without bending or warping. A sharp shadow falls across the notebook page, at the base of the impossible object in the physical room.
