Taos Pueblo Terraces Under Storm Sky Before Dawn
Stepped adobe walls rise in reddish-brown layers against a sky heavy with dark, bruising storm clouds. Soft, diffused light flattens the rough clay surfaces, revealing the texture of mud baked by decades of sun. Deep shadows pool in the narrow gaps between flat roofs, creating distinct horizontal bands of depth. Dry grasses rest on the lower slopes beside the earthen structures. Above, the atmosphere shifts from slate gray near the horizon to a deep, brooding purple. The low angle frames the towering height of the buildings, making them appear to pierce the vast, brooding expanse. A patch of weathered wooden vigas rests on the uppermost terrace, catching a faint, pale highlight from the overcast sky.
