Adobe Pueblo Terraces Under Storm Sky
Earth-toned adobe walls rise in stepped terraces against a churning sky heavy with slate-gray cumulus clouds. Late afternoon sun cuts through breaks in the storm, illuminating the rough, sun-baked texture of the clay masonry while casting deep shadows into the recessed doorways. The architecture displays traditional multi-story stacking with flat roofs lined by wooden vigas protruding from the earthen facade. Below, dry scrub grasses and scattered stones mark the arid ground leading up to the structure. The low angle emphasizes the verticality of the buildings, making them appear to anchor the landscape against the vast, turbulent expanse above. One beam of golden light strikes the uppermost corner of the highest terrace, highlighting the grain of the dried mud against the darkening clouds.
