A traditional straw broom leans casually against the rough stone, its bristles worn flat from daily use on the cobblestones. In the background, the faint silhouette of a Fourvière hill church emerges against the darkening sky. A discarded paper cup rests near his leather work boots, evidence of a long shift. The quiet exhaustion of urban maintenance, framed by the historic architecture that defines the city’s hidden passages, with wet pavement reflecting the sparse streetlights.
