Supermoon Rising Over Windmill Polder at Sunset

by Bobby Daniel

A massive, pale orb dominates the twilight sky above a solitary windmill standing on a flat polder. The horizon glows with the last warm hues of sunset, casting a soft gradient against the cooling blue of early winter. A thin veil of ground mist rests on the low-lying grass, softening the transition between the earth and the air. The windmill's blades are still, silhouetted against the brightening moon. Below, a shallow pool of water mirrors the entire sky, creating a perfect symmetrical reflection where the moon appears to float just above the windmill's base. Frost glistens on the ridgeline grass in the foreground, catching the fading light. at the edge is the sharp, cold edge of the windmill's shadow stretching across the wet, reflective surface.
