Stone Railway Hotel Facade in Tunisian Winter Sun in along a colonnaded facade in Tunisia

Stone Railway Hotel Facade in Tunisian Winter Sun

by Meredith Truong

Pale limestone blocks form a massive wall of stacked balconies under a harsh, clear sky. The late afternoon sun strikes the rough masonry with intense glare, casting deep, sharp shadows inside the recessed arches. Each level features a colonnade where thick stone pillars support the overhanging floors above. The texture of the weathered stone shows signs of age against the bright, unfiltered light. Vertical lines of the columns create a rhythmic pattern that dominates the entire view. At the bottom edge, a dark shadow falls across the base of the lowest archway, at the base of the structure.
