Steel Blue Evening Light on Viaduct Undercroft

Steel-blue ambient light fills the space beneath a massive concrete viaduct arch near Sargodha. Water drips steadily from the rough, weathered concrete ceiling onto a bed of dark green ferns growing in the damp stone. The late autumn air hangs still as a light drizzle coats the surfaces in a glossy sheen. Converging lines of the bridge structure draw toward a distant vanishing point along the maintenance walkway. Puddles on the gravel floor reflect the fading sky above. one drop of water hangs from the tip of a frond, catching the dim light before falling into the shadow below.
