Steamed Oak Barrel Staves on Table in on a bedside table near Stoke-on-Trent

Steamed Oak Barrel Staves on Table

by Dennis Herring

Curved oak staves rest on a dark wooden bedside table, their surfaces still damp from a recent steaming process. Pale afternoon light bounces softly off the surrounding walls, casting quiet shadows that stretch along the corners of the room. The wood grain shows deep, rich amber tones, with moisture beading slightly on the edges of the bent planks. Late autumn settles outside, hinted at by the muted, gray light filtering through the window. The staves are arranged in a loose arc, their flexibility evident in the gentle curve of the wood. A small, dried leaf sits near the base of the arrangement, adding a touch of seasonal decay to the scene. at the edge is the faint, white steam rising from the topmost stave, barely visible against the pale wall.
