Steamboat Whistle on Abu Dhabi Canyon Switchback

Bright late-afternoon sunlight floods the rugged switchback approach near Abu Dhabi, illuminating a large industrial steamboat whistle mounted on a metal bracket beside the road. The brass flared opening faces the open air, catching the pale blue of the clear sky above and reflecting the warm ochre tones of the surrounding rock face. A stone retaining wall curves along the pavement edge, guiding the path upward through the arid terrain. Sharp geometric lines of the switchback contrast with the natural erosion patterns of the canyon walls. Long shadows stretch across the dry pavement, marking the steep angle of the approach. A small patch of dry grass rests on the rocky soil at the base of the metal support.
