Star Trails Over Guinea Grain Silo Row Night in in Guinea

Star Trails Over Guinea Grain Silo Row Night

by Freda McConnell

Pale arcs of starlight sweep across a pitch-black sky, forming concentric curves above a row of weathered grain silos. The structures stand as dark, cylindrical silhouettes against the luminous celestial motion, their rough concrete surfaces catching faint moonlight. The ground below is flat and bare, scattered with dry earth and sparse winter vegetation typical of the Guinean savanna. The cold moonlight casts sharp, defined edges on the silos while the air remains perfectly clear, revealing the vast scale of the night. Long exposure shows the rotation of the earth, turning the stars into glowing ribbons that contrast with the static, industrial forms below. A faint reflection of starlight glimmers on the smooth top rim of the nearest silo.
