Deep red light washes over a compact field spectrometer resting on a worn wooden table. Beside the instrument, three glass microscope slides lie flat, their edges catching the dim glow. The slides hold stained samples in shades of pink and purple, contrasting against the clear glass. Rain streaks the nearby window, blurring the dark exterior. The room surface is scuffed with use, showing layers of dried paint and faint scratches. A metal rack holds additional slides in the background. The spectrometer's digital display remains dark, waiting for activation. Condensation beads on the window frame, reflecting the red ambient light in tiny, sharp points.
