Solitary Figure in Halifax

Rain-slicked cobblestones in Halifax’s Historic Dockyard reflect the pale, diffused light of early morning, creating a mirror-like surface that doubles the vertical lines of the nearby limestone warehouses. A lone figure in a heavy, dark oilskin coat walks past a closed fish market stall, their boots leaving faint, temporary prints in the wet stone. On a nearby wooden bench, a bright yellow beach towel lies folded, its vibrant color clashing with the muted grays of the overcast sky and the damp, weathered wood. A small, white ceramic water ring sits on the bench’s armrest, a subtle mark left by a recent drink, against the rough texture of the bench.
