Sodium-Lit Tin Smelter in Winter Valley
Brick walls of the smelting house rise steeply against a deep indigo evening sky, illuminated by the harsh orange glow of sodium-vapor lamps. Heavy snow blankets the ground and rests on the corrugated metal roof. Inside the open furnace bays, molten metal glows with an intense white heat. A surreal anomaly breaks the laws of physics: a stream of silvery liquid water flows upward along the sloping concrete embankment beside the building, defying gravity. The water gathers in a shimmering pool at the very peak of the incline, reflecting the electric orange light. Dramatic, heavy clouds swirl overhead, while converging lines of the factory structure and the uphill water channel draw the eye sharply toward a distant vanishing point in the snowy valley.
