Washed Corral Panels in Rainy Season Morning Light

Rust-streaked steel panels stack vertically along a muddy feedlot lane in Chhattisgarh, their surfaces slick with residual water from a recent washdown. Deep shadows swallow the lower sections of the stack, while a thin rim of pale first light catches the upper edges and the wet metal corners. Above the pens, a haze of dust or rising steam hangs low, softening the background where green monsoon vegetation presses against the horizon. The ground is churned to a dark, heavy clay, reflecting the gray sky. Water drips slowly from a latch, pooling in the ruts of the lane. The stack rests heavily on the uneven earth, its cold industrial texture against the organic softness of the damp air.
