Silhouetted Saloon Ruin in Spring Light in through a courtyard reclaimed by grasses near Sialkot

Silhouetted Saloon Ruin in Spring Light

by Victoria Felix

Pale morning light floods the courtyard where tall grasses reclaim the ground around a crumbling two-story saloon. The building stands as a dark silhouette against the bright sky, its second floor partially collapsed into a jagged heap of timber and debris. Dry mountain air hangs still over the early spring landscape, where fresh green shoots push through the dusty earth near the foundation. The remaining walls show exposed brick and splintered wood, framing empty window openings that look like hollow eyes. Sunlight flares behind the structure, washing out details in the upper story while casting deep shadows across the uneven floor of the courtyard. One broken beam rests at an angle against the lower wall, its rough texture visible in the contrast of light and dark.
