Silhouetted Grand Piano on Jhansi Festival Stage
by Justin Leach
Predawn darkness blankets the empty festival stage in Jhansi, where a grand piano stands as a stark silhouette against harsh fluorescent lighting. The wet floor reflects the cool, blue-white glow, indicating recent rain and humid air clinging to the polished surfaces. Early spring is visible in the faint mist rising from the damp floorboards and the slightly heavier fabric of the stage curtains hanging motionless in the background. The piano's curved legs anchor the composition, while the bright strip of light behind it cuts through the shadows, defining the instrument's elegant curves. Droplets of water glisten on the black lacquer of the piano lid, catching the artificial light. The edge of the stage floor shows a faint sheen of moisture, at the base of the scene in a specific, tangible moment before the crowd arrives.
