Thick evening light pours from behind a grand piano, turning the musician's hands into a blurred streak of motion against the keys. The Steinway sits on a wooden stage floor, its polished black surface reflecting the warm, honeyed glow that defines the late spring sky outside. Heavy curtains drape the background, layered with stage haze that catches the backlight in soft, diffuse clouds. Cables snake across the floorboards near the instrument's legs, at the base of the scene in a working performance space. The hands blur with speed, showing the force of a fortissimo attack.
