Abandoned Piano on Dhaka Festival Stage Midnight Rain
A black grand piano sits neglected on the wooden planks of an open-air festival stage in Dhaka, its lid closed against the drizzle. Rain streaks the dark wood, pooling in the gaps between floorboards. Low tungsten light spills from high, open windows, cutting through the thick stage haze that hangs suspended in the air. The light reflects off the wet surface of the instrument and the slick floor. Early winter chill is suggested by the dampness and the empty space around the piano. The roofless structure exposes the instrument to the falling water, while the low angle emphasizes the height of the stage and the vulnerability of the forgotten object. One puddle forms near the piano's castor wheel, mirroring the dim light.
