Soft overcast light washes the water in pale grays and muted blues as a shrimp trawler sits motionless near the riverbank. Heavy fishing nets spill from the deck in tangled loops of white and weathered rope, their wet surfaces reflecting the dull sky. The vessel rests low in the water, its hull marked by the scuffs of recent labor. Behind the boat, the river stretches wide under a clearing storm, with rain-slicked reeds bending low against the current. Late spring greenery lines the distant shore, fresh and vibrant against the gray water. One coiled rope lies on the deck, its fibers glistening with droplets that catch the faint morning glow.
