Sea Fog Swallows Fishing Fleet at Oregon Dawn

Thick gray mist rolls over the dark Pacific surface, swallowing a cluster of fishing boats anchored beneath fast-moving cloud bands. The water appears as a smooth, slate expanse, interrupted only by the white wakes of gentle swells. Vessels sit low in the water, their hulls painted in faded reds and whites, barely visible through the low-hanging fog. Ropes and nets drape over gunwales, heavy with moisture, while the masts pierce the mist like slender spires. The sky above remains a uniform pale blue-gray, blending seamlessly with the sea. Small details like coiled lines and rusted cleats stand out against the soft, diffused light, anchoring the scene in the quiet rhythm of midsummer coastal work. One rope knot hangs loose near the stern, its frayed end dipping toward the wet deck.
