Seaplane Taxiing Toward Wooden Dock Alexandria
by Katya Dawson
Soft, diffused light washes over the rippling water of a wind-open causeway near Alexandria, where a white seaplane glides slowly toward a weathered wooden dock. Late summer heat shimmers in a visible haze above the surface, distorting the distant shoreline just enough to soften its edges. The aircraft’s hull cuts a clean line through the wet wake, leaving a trail of frothy white foam against the deep blue-gray water. Sunlight reflects off the wet planks of the dock, highlighting the grain of the aged timber and the rusted metal cleats securing the mooring lines. The plane sits slightly to the right, anchored by the diagonal pull of the dock extending from the bottom left corner. A small splash of water droplets rests on the edge of the lower fuselage, catching the light before sliding back into the sea.
