Rusted Metal Bollard in New York

A weathered metal bollard stands anchored in the damp concrete of the Battery Park promenade, its surface etched with decades of salt spray and urban wear. Soft, gray mist diffuses the early morning light, blurring the distant silhouette of the Statue of Liberty into a pale ghost against the water. A discarded newspaper lies crumpled at the base of the post, its ink slightly smudged by the heavy dew that coats the pavement. The cold air hangs still, clinging to the rusted iron rings that loop around the bollard's midsection.
