Rusted Iron Padlock in Christchurch

A heavy iron padlock secures a chain on the weathered wooden railing of a Christchurch balcony after dark. The cold steel shackle reflects the warm orange glow of a nearby sodium streetlamp against its rusted surface. Below the railing, the blurred shapes of parked cars and distant building lights create a soft bokeh in the background. One drop of condensation rests on the bottom of the lock, catching the light like a tiny prism.
