A rusted iron lantern hangs from a wrought-iron balcony railing in Charleston, casting a warm, flickering glow against the dark night sky. The aged metal surface reflects the mixed city lights from the street below, creating streaks of orange and yellow on the curved glass. Behind the lantern, the intricate scrollwork of the railing creates a pattern of deep shadows against the building's stucco wall. One drop of condensation rests on the lower rim of the lantern, catching the light like a tiny diamond.
