Rusted Iron Coat Stand in Sydney
by Erin Mack
A rusted iron coat stand leans against the damp, peeling paint of a Federation-era veranda wall in Sydney during the evening rain. Condensation beads heavily on its curved hooks, catching the faint, diffused glow of a nearby streetlamp that falls through the overcast sky. To the right, a small wooden step stool sits on the wet timber floorboards, its surface slick with recent rainfall and reflecting the dim ambient light. Water droplets trickle slowly down the vertical bars of the stand, merging with the puddle forming at its base on the weathered floor.
