A rusted hose nozzle rests on the end of a frayed garden hose, resting against the damp, dark bark of a gum tree trunk in a Hobart backyard. First light falls through the wet canopy, casting cool, diffuse shadows across the textured bark and the green metal of the nozzle. Rainwater beads on the brass connector, catching the soft morning glow and reflecting the surrounding grey sky. One drop of water falls from the nozzle tip, landing silently on the moss-covered stone wall below.
