Rodeo Rider on Beach at Dusk in Wet Season

Copper-toned light washes over a sandy beach near Punto Fijo as a bull rider rests on the animal with one hand, the other arm extended for balance. The wet season air hangs low, softening the horizon where the sky meets the sea in a veil of light fog. Sand grains rest on the rider's boots and the bull's wet hide, glistening under the fading sun. The animal's muscles tense beneath the saddle, legs churning the damp earth. Behind the rider, the ocean stretches flat and gray, reflecting the last warmth of the day. The rider's chaps flap slightly in the coastal breeze, their texture rough against the smooth, wet sand. A shadow of the bull falls long across the dunes, anchoring the moment in the slowing light. The edge of the saddle horn catches a final glint of copper before the sun dips below the waterline.
