Stark white fluorescent light cuts across the weathered face of an elderly man near a Singapore riverside landing. His eyes, clouded by cataracts, reflect the overhead tubes while a gentle smile creases skin worn by decades of work. Raindrops rest on the dark water in the background beneath a perfectly clear midnight sky. Foreground bokeh blurs the edge of a wooden pier, placing the man in sharp focus against the damp night air. The light highlights the texture of his skin and the faint sheen of moisture on his collar. One reflection of the fluorescent bulb shimmers in the tear duct of his right eye.
