Switchman with Lantern Calluses Near Kano River

Deep night shadows wrap the riverside landing in Kano while warm string lights cast a golden pool across the weathered face of a retired switchman. His hands rest near his side, revealing thick, yellowed calluses on the palms from years of gripping a lantern. Rain-soaked air hangs heavy, visible as fine droplets clinging to the rough fabric of his shirt and the wet metal of nearby railings. The background dissolves into the dark, indistinct water of the river, where occasional ripples reflect the distant glow. one drop of water slides down the curve of his ear, tracing a path through the stubble on his cheek before disappearing into the collar of his coat.
