Plow in Late Autumn Field with Crows
by Manuel Yang
Bright midday sun illuminates the stubble of a harvested grain field near Eskişehir, where dark, cloddy soil contrasts with pale, dry stalks. An iron plow rests abandoned in the foreground, its curved blade turned slightly toward the earth. A flock of black crows scatters across the rows, their dark feathers stark against the muted browns and golds of the late autumn landscape. The sky above is a clear, pale blue, stretching wide without clouds. Shadows fall sharply beneath the plow and the birds, indicating the high angle of the sun. The ground appears rough and uneven, covered in the remnants of the recent harvest. The metal of the plow reflects a dull gleam, while the crows huddle near the soil, their movements creating small ripples in the stillness of the field. One crow stands on a clod of dirt near the plow's wheel.
