Pink and Blue Salt Ponds Sicily Aerial View
Vast geometric grids of salt evaporation ponds stretch across the Sicilian landscape in late morning clarity. Bright pink and electric blue water fills rectangular basins, separated by thin white ridges of crystallized salt. The dry season leaves the surrounding earth parched and pale, against the saturated hues of the brine. Wind whips across the surface, creating fine ripples that distort the reflection of the clear sky. Below the ponds, faint outlines of greenhouse grids appear as a structured patchwork of translucent covers. The light is sharp and dry, casting minimal shadows while highlighting the texture of the salt crusts along the basin edges. A small cluster of white buildings sits at the far corner of the largest blue pond.
