Piled high on low wooden trays are vibrant red pomegranates, their skin glistening with moisture from the light monsoon drizzle outside. The room hums with quiet celebration as participants in layered clothing lean forward to share the fruit. Rain streaks the glass panes above, blurring the dark night beyond. One seed, split open on a woven mat, reveals deep crimson flesh against the rough, weathered wood grain of the table edge.
