Oxidation Rings on Cut Apple Near Window

Brown concentric rings spread across the pale flesh of a freshly sliced apple, creating a map of chemical change. Frost crystals line the edge of the nearby windowpane, their sharp edges catching the bright midmorning light filtering from the north. The fruit rests on a surface where lamplight begins to settle into the corners, casting soft shadows against the deepening autumn afternoon. Fine droplets of juice glisten on the cut skin, highlighting the texture of the browning oxidation. The shallow depth of field blurs the frosty glass into a cool, blue-gray backdrop, isolating the warm amber and russet tones of the decaying fruit in sharp focus.
