Olive Branch With Fruit On Winter Forest Floor
Steel-blue twilight washes over a forest floor near Bastille, Paris, where a single olive branch rests among fern fronds. The branch bears clusters of olives, some still green while others have ripened to a deep, matte black. Dead leaves skitter across the damp earth, caught in a sudden gust of wind. The ferns display a muted, winter-brown hue, their delicate fronds lying flat against the soil. In the distance, the first points of city light begin to glow through the tree trunks, casting a faint, cool illumination on the bark. The texture of the olive skin appears smooth and waxy, against the rough, fibrous fern stems. A shadow from a nearby branch falls sharply across the black fruit, highlighting its round form against the dark earth.
