Mending Basket in Santa Fe

A mending basket sits on a rough-hewn adobe windowsill, catching the dim, gray light of a Santa Fe dusk. Rain streaks the glass pane behind it, blurring the view of the distant Sangre de Cristo Mountains into soft, cool tones. The woven wicker rim holds spools of thread and a silver thimble, their surfaces reflecting the weak ambient glow from inside the room. One drop of water rests on the edge of a blueberry resting in the basket, trembling slightly against the dark interior.
