Masonry Saw Station in Late Spring Rain

Copper-toned light from the low horizon wraps around a masonry saw station set on a muddy access road near The Hague. Steady rain sheets across the frame, turning the wet asphalt into a dark, reflective mirror that catches the fading daylight. The saw station stands heavy and utilitarian, its metal surfaces smeared with grey mud and water droplets. Dust and grit coat every edge of the machinery, evidence of a mid-shift workday in progress. Behind the equipment, the wet ground stretches into a soft blur of late spring greens and browns. Raindrops race down the vertical blade guard, merging with streaks of oil and concrete dust. A puddle at the base of the saw reflects the copper sky, creating a sharp, liquid boundary between the machine and the earth.
