Malakal Town Hall Notice Board Forms Maps

Honeyed evening light floods the interior of a polling station gymnasium in Malakal, illuminating a wooden town hall notice board mounted on a cinder block wall. Beside the board, a metal tray holds stacks of hearing sign-in forms, petitions, and zoning maps pinned side by side against the textured surface. The warm golden hour glow casts deep, soft shadows across the corrugated metal tray and the grain of the paper documents. Dust motes hang suspended in the shafts of light that fall across the low angle view. The forms show signs of handling, their edges slightly frayed against the bright paper of the zoning maps. A shadow from the notice board falls across the corner of the tray, at the base of the civic urgency in the physical reality of the room.
