Late Night Maracatu Drummers in Recife Hall

Low tungsten light from high windows pours across a stone floor in a ceremonial hall in Recife, creating deep amber pools beside the standing drummers. The group forms a perfect symmetrical line, holding dark leather drums against legs wrapped in vibrant red and green fabrics. Heavy overcast skies press against the glass panes above, filtering the dim glow. Textured drum skins show visible wear along the edges where hands rest. Long shadows stretch across the polished wood floor, meeting the edge of a woven mat placed in the center. The rigid alignment of the performers anchors the space, while the amber light highlights the grain of the wood at the base of the drums.
