Rich amber light from the setting sun floods the interior of a Rio de Janeiro shrine, illuminating a capoeira fighter mid-motion. The subject executes a meia lua de compasso kick, their leg arcing high against a backdrop of rows hanging lanterns. Heavy overcast skies outside soften the horizon, allowing the warm glow to reflect off the polished wooden floor and the fighter's skin. Dust motes float in the shafts of light, highlighting the texture of the stone walls and the intricate details of the ceremonial attire. The fighter's shadow stretches long and sharp across the tiles, anchored by the weight of the kick. The scene ends with the blur of the foot's motion against the stillness of the lanterns.
