Kneading Dough in Mexico City
by Lacey Paul
Bright winter noon light floods a narrow Mexico City patio where a white stucco wall meets a weathered wooden doorframe, casting sharp, geometric shadows across the textured surface. A pair of hands, dusted with flour, grips a wooden mixing spoon inside a ceramic bowl, actively kneading dough on a rough stone counter that shows years of use. Behind the immediate action, a colorful tapestry hangs loosely from a nail, its fringed edges catching the breeze and partially obscuring a glimpse of the busy street below. One drop of water falls from the rim of a nearby clay pot, freezing in mid-air against the deep blue of the sky visible through the open archway.
