Inside a dimly lit bakery in Oaxaca, Mexico, a baker leans over a large clay oven before sunrise, scoring the tops of round loaves with a sharp blade. The cool stillness of the early morning fills the space, with faint blue light filtering through high windows. Flour dusts the wooden counter where a woven basket rests nearby. The baker’s hands move with practiced precision, preparing the bread for the heat. Terracotta tiles line the walls, at the base of the scene in local tradition. No other people are visible, only the quiet rhythm of pre-dawn labor in this historic city.
