Iron Tool Hooks in Naples
by Javier Silva
Flat noon light bleaches the white stucco facade of a narrow Naples alleyway, highlighting a cluster of rusted iron tool hooks bolted directly into the wall beside a weathered wooden door. One heavy iron saucepan hangs from the lowest hook, its dented blackened bottom catching the harsh overhead sun while the rest of the metal remains in deep shadow. To the right, a faded blue shutter is propped open, revealing a glimpse of a tiled roof and a potted geranium that adds a splash of organic color against the gray stone. A small, irregular chip in the plaster near the doorframe exposes the rough red brick beneath, marking the texture of the building's age.
