Deep indigo twilight blankets the floodplain across Newfoundland, leaving the water's surface in shadow while a sharp rim light traces the curve of an oxbow lake. Autumn trees line the bank, their bare branches and lingering amber leaves hanging heavy against the darkening sky. The dry season has stripped the undergrowth, revealing the textured, muddy banks where rain pools in shallow depressions. The water acts as a perfect mirror, holding the inverted silhouette of the treeline with crystalline clarity. Low angles emphasize the geologic grandeur of the curved bend, where the stillness of the lake contrasts with the rugged, rain-washed earth. A final sliver of orange light catches the edge of a fallen branch resting on the wet sand.
