Horizontal Tree in Basalt Valley Night
Deep shadow swallows the valley floor of Bolivia while a columnar basalt formation rises from the darkness, its hexagonal faces etched with rough, volcanic texture. One tree grows perfectly horizontally from the vertical rock face, its trunk rigid and straight, extending outward into the void. Vibrant green leaves cluster densely along the horizontal branch, defying gravity yet appearing fully rooted in the stone. A thin rim of light traces the upper edges of the basalt columns and the tips of the foliage, separating them from the pitch-black sky. The ground below is flat and empty, covered in early autumn grasses that lie still. The impossible orientation of the tree contrasts sharply with the rigid verticality of the stone, creating a stark visual anchor against the vast, clear night.
