Hemp Harvest Sanaa Evening Storm in beside stacked hay bales near Sana'a

Hemp Harvest Sanaa Evening Storm

by Elaine Wilcox

Steel-blue ambient light washes over a harvested hemp field where fibrous stalks lie scattered across dry, dusty earth. Stacked rectangular hay bales form a textured wall on the left, their rough twine bindings catching the dim glow. The ground shows faint tire tracks and scattered debris from the recent storm. Layers of the landscape recede into the distance, where faint outlines of stone structures blend into the twilight haze. The air appears still after the rain, leaving the soil dark and heavy. Shadows stretch long across the stalks, showing the rough texture of the dried fibers against the smooth, compacted bales. One clump of wet hemp rests against the corner of the nearest bale.
